Important Area Message - Recovery, Unity, Service

Dear Fellowship,

At our December Election Assembly, we filled the Treasurer, Registrar, Correctional Facilities Team (CFT) Coordinator, and Public information and Professional Awareness (PIPA) Coordinator roles. However, Chair, Secretary, Webmaster and Delegate remain vacant.

We agreed to delay any decision about putting Area B into recess until after the March Inventory Assembly, when we will hold another election giving us one last chance to fill these essential positions

Without these roles, Area B cannot continue its important work giving local groups a voice in AA Australia and supporting PIPA and CFT activities. I will stay on as Chair until March, but we urgently need members to step up for these positions.

What does “going into recess” mean?
If these positions are not filled, Area B ER will have to temporarily suspend all its activities and service functions. This means Area meetings, assemblies, and committee work will be paused, and support and communication from the Area level will be limited until enough members volunteer to serve. Going into recess is a last resort. It means our groups do not have a voice in AA Australia and can impact AA unity. (Read Derek R’s letter in AA Around Australia describing the restoration of Area B Southern Region —note that we are Area B Eastern Region (ER))

Upcoming Elections – Save the Date!
The Inventory and Election Assembly will be held on Saturday, 14th March 2026, from 12:00 midday to 5:30pm in person at Bateman’s Bay and via Zoom (More information will be posted on aaareaber.org.au)

Hosted by the South Coast District. the day will include a GSR workshop, Area Inventory and Election. There will be a BBQ dinner from 5.30pm and a 3rd Legacies meeting at 7pm. This is a great opportunity to connect, learn more about service, and help shape the future of Area B and AA in Australia. Everyone interested in ensuring AA’s future is welcome.

Please share this message with your groups.
If you or someone you know can serve, now is the time to get involved.

I have attached an outline of the positions and responsibilities to help you understand what’s involved. Please share this information with your Groups and consider how you or someone in your group might contribute.

In fellowship and service,

Pip O
